Lapish Lab
People of all genders, beliefs, sexuality, and nationalities come together in our lab.
The broad goal of our research program is to understand the neural mechanisms that underlie cognitive dysfunction in disorders of the brain. Our primary focus is to determine how drugs of abuse, especially alcohol, alter the computational functions performed by populations of neurons. We perform science in a manner that tightly integrates experimental and computational neuroscience approaches.
Our lab uses several techniques such as:
• animal behavior
• in vivo electrophysiological recordings
• computational modeling
• advanced statistical procedures (e.g. dimensionality reduction techniques)
• optogenetics and chemogenetics
Our philosophy is that science which is open, multidisciplinary, and collaborative yields the best opportunity for ground-breaking discoveries.
